My lab is interested in the mechanisms and regulation of pre-mRNA splicing in mammalian cells. We use biochemical and molecular approaches to identify and characterize individual general or regulatory protein components of the splicing apparatus. As several of these factors are RNA-binding proteins, we also focus on the structural basis of their interactions with RNA. We are also interested in the mechanisms of fidelity in constitutive and alternative splicing and their alterations in cancer and in inherited diseases.
